Anders Sunna
NL Anders Sunna is een Sámikunstenaar uit een rendierhoudersfamilie in Kieksiäisvaara, in het Zweedse deel van Sápmi. Sunna’s politiek geladen kunstwerken vertellen de geschiedenis van het geweld en de onderdrukking van de Sámi, waarbij hij specifiek ingaat op de vijf decennia durende strijd van zijn familie voor hun recht en erkenning als bosrendierhouders.
ENG Anders Sunna is a Northern Sámi artist from a reindeer-herding family in Kieksiäisvaara, in the Swedish part of Sápmi. Sunna’s politically charged artworks narrate the history of the violence and oppression against the Sámi people, specifically addressing his family’s five-decade-long struggle for their right and acknowledgement to be forest reindeer herders. -
Katarina Pirak Sikku
NL Katarina Pirak Sikku woont in Jokkmokk, in het Zweedse deel van Sápmi. Ze is vooral bekend om haar onderzoek in het archief van Uppsala, van het voormalige Zweedse Instituut voor Rassenbiologie. De sporen die het rassenbiologisch onderzoek naliet, verwerkte ze in tentoonstellingen en in haar artistieke praktijk.
ENG Katarina Pirak Sikku, is based in Jokkmokk, the Swedish side of Sápmi. She is most known for her research work in the archive of Uppsala, the archive of the former Swedish Institute of Racial Biology. She has processed the legacy of racial biological research in exhibitions and in her artistic practice. She has been digging in this archive to find the voice of the Saamis.
