Network meeting on parenting in the arts

On 4 June, Flanders Arts Institute invites you to artist/parents, a network meeting where we will work together to build a bridge to a caring ecosystem.

The conversation about parenthood in the arts has been stirring for some time and exposes a deep wound: in a sector burdened by production pressures and the constant need to remain visible and relevant, artists who are parents face a difficult reality.

Programme

During this network meeting, we will start from the urgent calls for help from artist parents. How do you balance care responsibilities with the creative process and artistic growth of your practice or organisation? How do we ensure that artists with care responsibilities do not become invisible and fall through the cracks?

Together, we will explore how we can embed care within policy and the sector in a structural way. For this purpose, we are working with the recent findings from the Landscape Sketch of the Arts 2025, which warns of an overheated field
in which artists and organisations are gasping for breath. During this meeting, we will jointly claim that white space.

The day will be brought to life through the lens of Enrica Camporesi. To mark the occasion, artist Moïra Deepijan is staging a pop-up exhibition of her work CHARGE MENTALE ARC-EN-CIEL, a project she has been developing and archiving since 2019.
