Keynote
The day begins with an introductory lecture exploring new ways of listening. This lecture examines how sound shapes our understanding of place, environment and artistic practice. It provides a common starting point for the discussions that follow and invites participants to reflect on how listening can be a method, a political act, a form of care and a way of building community.
-
From 13:00 to 14:00
Sound art in the museum context
About exhibiting, commissioning and caring for sound-based work.
Museums increasingly embrace sound, yet the medium challenges traditional exhibition formats. During this exchange we’ll explore how these institutions can support the sound art sector, from acquisition, commissioning and production to presentation and long-term care.
-
From 13:00 to 14:00
The heritage and innovation of spatial audio
About infrastructures for immersive and experimental sound.
Spatialisation has long played a role in sound experimentation, but has gained renewed momentum in contemporary artistic practices and creative industries. In this discussion we will explore the heritage and innovation of spatial audio, paying special attention to the relationships between existing and emerging systems, and between open standards, artist-developed installations, and commercial sound systems.
-
From 13:00 to 14:00
Ecological listening
About sound as a way of sensing and relating to the environment.
Ecological listening connects artistic practices with environmental awareness, field research and new forms of attention. At this table we'll explore how sound can open pathways into ecological thinking and care.
-
From 13:00 to 14:00
Cross-Border Collaborations: Connecting the Dutch & Belgian Scenes
