Save the date – Landscape Sketch of the Arts: session Dance

Give your opinion and contribute to the Landscape Sketch of the Arts!

The Landscape Sketch of the Arts is a comprehensive analysis of Flanders' professional arts landscape that Flanders Arts Institute puts together at the start of each new political term. To make sure nothing is overlooked, we organise several sessions throughout 2024 to gather input from the sector, each time focusing on a different part of the arts field.

Expanded dance – Can we practice unconditional care in the performing arts?

On December 5, Flanders Arts Institute is organising a session for dance professionals focusing on inclusive dance practices.

The discipline is constantly renewing itself, as are the people working in it. Thus, we see not only a reorientation of bodies for and by whom dance is practised, but also a change in the approach to these movements. These expanded and inclusive dance practices require a different kind of framing: from training to audience engagement.

In this session we delve into how dance as an inclusive practice of care continues to evolve, challenging societal norms. Together, we will look at what the (new) needs are within the sector, where change is required and what changes are already in place.

Are you active in the sector yourself? Then let your voice be heard during this session and share your experiences.

When and where

December 5 at 10:00, in KAAP Ostend (Zeedijk, Koning Boudewijnpromenade 10, 8400 Ostende).

Stay informed

Want to participate? As soon as the full programme is online, we will send you an e-mail with all the details and a link to register. Register via the button at the top right and leave your name and e-mail address.

To register, we ask you to create an account on our website and choose a password. With your own account, you can always update your details and/or unsubscribe from the event. Fees, thresholds and confidentiality

Flanders Arts Institute wants creators' voices to be heard more. For freelance artists (who are not on the payroll of an arts organisation and for whom participation is therefore unpaid) Kunstenpunt provides a fee. You can indicate this in the practical confirmation email.

Furthermore, we want to help overcome any thresholds for participants, e.g. through hybrid participation for people who have difficulty getting physically on site, food preferences or childcare. Please let us know how we can accommodate you via that same confirmation email.

To enable a safe conversation, Flanders Arts Institute commits to keeping identifiable statements within the conversation and to anonymously incorporate these insights into the report.
