Sector Day contemporary classical music – Artist-run presentations
As usual, MATRIX is organising the contemporary classical music sector day together with Flanders Arts Institute. On 15 March, we will meet at Night Air in Kortrijk. The focus this year? Artist-run presentation projects.
Sector gathering Contemporary classical music
Contemporary classical music has a permanent place in the programming of our concert halls and festivals. At the same time, it also claims its own space through its own established festivals, but also with artist-run initiatives: composers and musicians network, organise their own concerts and create spaces that welcome contemporary classical music.
During this sector day, based on inspiring initiatives, we will look at what we as a sector can learn from each other, how we can support each other and where outside support can be found.
Programme
We meet on 15 March at Muziekcentrum Track (Conservatoriumplein 1, 8500 Kortrijk). Afterwards, we can network further during Night Air.

13:00 - 13:30 presentation: public engagement and community building
13:30 - 14:30 panel discussion do it together: on industry drivers and needs, ways these projects can support each other
14:30 - 15:00 coffee break

This sector day is organised as part of Night Air, an adventurous and experimental mini-festival organised by Festival Kortrijk. Be sure to stick around after the sector day, networking further with guests and speakers between concerts, and mixing performances to suit your own tastes.
